The most black and blue music in the world!
NO TALKING SHOP, NO DAILY GRIND.
Courbevoie, La Chancellerie, 67 avenue Gambetta. Saturday 1 March 2014, fifty minutes past two.
The photo is a bit dated. The blacks have darkened and there’s not much detail in the faces and clothes. But still, thanks to photographer Jean-Pierre Tahmazian*, you can see them just as they were on that night in July 1977: pianist Hank Jones in a large-collared shirt with drummer Oliver Jackson and double-bass player George Duvivier. Three Americans with gentle faces brought together in Paris to record ‘I Remember You’ (Black & Blue). In fact you shouldn’t expect too much of the LP in question. Just the most black and blue music in the world. In a piano-bar from another galaxy. The perfect dream trio. If you’re looking for the vinyl, the reference number printed on the label is 33.122. Good hunting and …
Buddha bless you!
